My List Of Blogging Goals

Every blogger who wants to actually have success with her (or his) blog needs to make a list of blogging goals. It is crucial to aim for goals that are both attainable and important to your blog's success. It is up to you to choose what blogging goals you want. Some bloggers want to build a community, others want to make money, and many bloggers want both. There are no right or wrong goals. It is also important to point out that your blogging goals WILL change over time and that's a good thing! The internet is constantly evolving and so should you if you want to remain successful. Here is a sampling of my personal blogging goals:

Monthly Goals
  • Write 20 to 30 posts a month per blog
  • Use social media daily (Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest)
  • Connect with other bloggers
Quartely Goals
  • Gain at least 300 subscribers per blog the first quarter
  • Gain at least 300 followers on social media (Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest)
Yearly Goals
  • Gain at least 1,000 subscribers per blog the first year
  • Gain at least 1,000 followers on social media (Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest)
  • Start vloging on my fashion and beauty blog

Now this is just a sample of my goals and this list will change over time, I'm sure. I must admit I am quite nervous about setting up goals for my blog simply because I'm afraid of failure. Who isn't? I realize I may not meet my goals as planned but I might be surprised if I surpass my goals. It is a risk I'm making and I really hope its all worth it in the end.

I also want to point out my goals for the first year may seem small to some. I realize blogging takes time and it is a gradual process to win over trust and followers. Its not going to happen over night and I still have so much to learn.

What blogging goals are on your list? How long have you been blogging and what goals have you successfully reached? Feel free to leave comments below.

Welcome To My Journey

Welcome to the first post in my journey through blogging. My name is Anna and I'm actually not new to blogging. I first started blogging back in February 2008 when I started my fashion/beauty blog Shop In Chic. I actually had a little bit of success with it though not much as I spent nearly a year faithfully tending to my blog. I never made money from it, but I did receive a nice small community of followers who I followed back. It felt good to receive comments and reciprocate support to fellow bloggers. To be honest, I really had no idea what I was doing. Although blogging was not a new phenomenon at the time and there was a lot of information out there, I really didn't take time to research blogging. I knew people could make a decent passive income and I guess that was really all that mattered at the time.

About a year after I started blogging, I reached a slump. There were some personal and family issues that arose at that time which contributed to the slump. A few months later, I started some exciting new freelance writing gigs which was great. In all honesty, I doubt I would have ever gotten these jobs had I not started a blog which goes to prove to you the power of blogging!

Over the years, I just didn't blog anymore. Sure I kept my blogs and domains. Sure I would start blogging again for a few days or maybe even a few weeks but I would always stop. Did I fall out of love with blogging? Did I feel like I didn't need to blog anymore now that I was a freelance writer?
No, I was quite busy with my writing gigs for a few years. Sure I could have blogged and I wanted to, but I just didn't.

Unfortunately, one of my better paying jobs didn't last and things started to take a downturn again. I still didn't blog. I was too upset, sad, and I started blaming myself for the circumstances. If I never left my job for blogging, I wouldn't have ended up in this situation. I wanted to blog, and I attempted to get started multiple times, but my excuses kept piling up.

1- Why work on a project you're making no money on?

2- You're never going to have a successful blog.

3- Blogging is what got you into this mess

Over the last few years, things started to look up for me. I also continued to try to blog, but I would always slack off. And you know what? I am tired of putting my blog on hold. I am tired of making excuses. I am ready for a change. Starting now and starting with my blog journey, I vow to blog more and make the most of it. I am using THIS blog to share my journey, teach a few things while I'm learning, and help other serious bloggers along the way. There is still a lot I don't know about the art of blogging, but I am willing to learn and read up this time. I don't want to do this blindly. I want to make the most of this and share what I learn. I am older and wiser now, but I am no blogging expert. I encourage my readers to seek out other bloggers and blogging experts to learn from as well. I know I will.

Please check out my two blogs Shop In Chic and Crazy Amazing Deal. I also have another blog in the works so I'll share more info about when its ready! In the meantime, please follow my three blogs as I go headfirst into my successful journey of blogging.
